?Terrant Ogden Bloomer

“Terry”

1926 – 2017

Terrant Bloomer passed away peacefully on Friday, May 5, 2017 at 91 years of age.

Terry was born on March 23, 1926 in Rossland, BC. As a young boy, Terry lived in Northern BC, Alberta and Saskatchewan. His father was employed by the Canadian Mining And Smelting Company and they lived in many northern communities. Terry would cross 5 miles over a frozen lake by dog sled to attend his schooling, which was held

in a one-room school house. Terry joined the Canadian Navy at a very young age. He served in the South Pacific in World War II. Terry met his beautiful wife Margaret in Kimberley and they were married on September 10, 1949. They had two children, William and Jane. Terry had a long and successful career with Cominco Ltd. at the Sullivan Mine in Kimberley and captained his team to the very first Provincial Mine Rescue Championship in BC. Terry was a mountain man. He climbed and hunted just about every mountain range in the East Kootenays and Northern BC. He was an avid fly fisherman and also made numerous ocean fishing trips to the Queen Charlotte Islands and the West Coast of Vancouver Island. Terry was one of the first snowmobilers in the Kimberley area, and he did it with passion. He became a private pilot in his early 50’s and loved the freedom of flying. Terry experienced all his adventures with his family by his side.

Terry lived a long and happy life and will be dearly missed by his family and friends. He was their hero!

Terry was predeceased by his loving wife Margaret Bloomer ten years ago. He is survived by his two loving children William (Vinussa) Bloomer of Kimberley, BC and Jane (Terry) Kryczka of Cranbrook, BC, and his two wonderful grandchildren Jeffery Kryczka, 29, of Castlegar, BC and Lauren (Cody) Kryczka, 27, of Kimberley, BC.

Our family will hold a private gathering in honour of Terry to celebrate his incredible life and the amazing, caring man that he was.
