January 16, 1932 - March 29, 2021
Bud passed away peacefully on March 29, 2021 at the age of 89.
Bud was born on January 16, 1932 at the St Eugene Hospital in Cranbrook, B.C., to parents Albert and Bertha Johnstone. He was the second oldest of 6 children. Bud's family moved around the Kootenays during his childhood living in Glenbank, Nakusp and settling down in Kimberley in the early 50's. It was in Marysville that Bud met the love of his life Rose, they married in 1957 and together raised 4 children.
Bud worked at Cominco for 25 years and in his spare time always had a project on the go, whether it was knitting, painting landscapes, tying flies, building fly rods, or working in his woodshop. Bud's artistic talent was appreciated by all.
Bud enjoyed doing anything that he and Rose could do together. They were commonly seen walking around town always hand in hand. Camping, dancing, and spending time with their family were favorite past times. Bud loved to joke around with everyone, especially teasing the kids in his family.
Bud's witty sense of humor and devotion to family will be remembered and passed on by his children Rae (Ian), Lyn (Victor), Jim (Naomi) and Rob (Stacey), his 13 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, his sister Hazel and brother Gordon.
While Bud will be missed greatly by all he touched in this life we are grateful for the time we had and take comfort in knowing he is dancing with Rose once again.
As per Bud's request there will not be a funeral. The best way to honor Bud's life is to spend quality time and make memories with your loved ones. If you wish to donate in Bud's memory, Bud's family would like to support the Kimberley Loan Cupboard.
