Kimberley’s Dirtbag Festival is a much anticipated event each year — a gathering of those who live the dirtbag lifestyle, as well as those who aspire to.

What is the Festival all about?

“Dirtbag Festival is a celebration of the story gatherers as well as the story tellers, told by dirtbags living in the rebel realms of the wild spaces they call home, through film, photography, spoken word and art.  It is a community of artists, activists, pranksters and adventurers who carry us through the dark winters by sharing their tales.”

The Festival seeks answers to the following questions. What awes and inspires you?  What keeps you going?  What’s your place on earth? What’s your story?

Dirtbag is scheduled for Friday, April 4, 2014 at the Kimberley Conference Centre.

Previously Dirtbag has been held at McKim Theatre but the move up to the Resort was suggested by request from festival-goers in order to take advantage of the social environment at the ski hill.

That environment will be on prominent display the weekend of April 4,5 and 6 as it is Spring Splash weekend — the weekend that Kimberley celebrates the end of the ski season.

That, believe Dirtbag organizers, offers a perfect fit with their own fest and a great way to open the Spring Splash weekend.

Submissions are now being accepted for the popular Community Show, which features photos and video clips and is one of the more popular segments of Dirtbag. The Community Show is simply a celebration of the Dirtbag community. Anyone can submit three photos or video clips with the content, context, location, location of photographer/videographer entirely open. You can submit online at www.dirtbagfestival.com. There will be lots of great prizes this year, and Fest organizers urge you to enter as soon as possible.

You can also purchase tickets online, but hurry. This event has always sold out in the past.
