Saturday, September 5 is First Saturday in Kimberley and, as always, the hard-working volunteers for the Kimberley Arts Council’s First Saturday committee have planned a full day of activity and entertainment.
This First Saturday celebrates community and Kimberley residents are invited to join the fun. From guided Nature Park hikes, to a high tea, to specially-priced Mining Railway rides, to live entertainment and all kinds of activities for kids, this First Saturday will keep you busy all day long.
The following is the full slate of activities:
Free Hike in the Nature Park: East meets South West Passage- Riverside Campground at 10 a.m. Dan and Ellen Chase are your guides - bring water and $10 for burger and drink at the campground after hike
Hats off to our Fashionable Past – Kimberley Heritage Museum 9 – 4:30 p.m. - bring your camera for photos
Kimberley Underground Mining Railway Special Edition for the Community
Train will run every hour from 10 a.m. to last one at 4 p.m. Includes train ride, underground mining and tour of the power house. Contrary to some earlier advertising, these train rides are not offering a train/chair lift package.
High Tea at Chateau Kimberley - 12 -3pm -$10 - Artist on site Lynne Grillmair, music by Terry Macham. Reservations are recommended for large groups. Contact 250-427-0045 or the Kimberley United Church.

Platzl Paddle Battle- Ping pong tournament – 3 p.m. -$10 proceeds to the Adaptive Sports Program
