Kimberley Gymnastics Club hosts meet this Saturday

Kimberley Gymnastic Club athletes will be in action this weekend at their home meet.

Kimberley Gymnastics is having its Winter Invitational this Saturday, January 24th.  Athletes from Kimberley, Golden, Radium, Castlegar, Nelson, and Trail will be attending!  Athletes will be competing Bars, Beam and Floor at the meet. There will be three sessions, beginning at 8:30 am.  Session One will include High School Girls, Junior High School Girls, Zone 1 Competitive and Junior Olympics Level 6 and 7 Athletes.  Session One Awards will be presented by Mayor Don McCormick at 11:00, accompanied by Gymnastics BC Mascot Sammy the Giant Rabbit!    Session 2 with Junior Olympics Compulsory Routines will begin at 12:30,  and Session 3, Interclub and Performance Plus athletes will begin at 3:45 pm. The event is open to the Public!

Admission fees are as follows:

Seniors and children under 4 - $2.00

School Age Children - $3.00

Adults - $4.00

 

This will be the first meet of the season in our Zone, and it provides an opportunity for athletes to practice performing, and judges to practice judging.  Athletes from the club plan to attend Nelson’s Judges Cup in February and the Key City Classic in Cranbrook in March where athletes will compete to try to qualify for Provincial Championships in Vancouver later in the season.  Athletes are also training to attend Nelson’s Zone Championships in early May, and Kimberley’s own Coconut Cup at the end of May.
