What a weekend at the Nordic Trails as the Kimberley Nordic Club hosted the Teck Kootenay Cup Ski Races. Skiers of all ages competed.

The Teck Kootenay Cup cross-country ski race saw a record number of participants ranging for three to eighty three.  The races hosted by the Kimberley Nordic Club, Jan 14 and 15 had close to 200 registered racers each of the two days.  Skate skiing took place Saturday with the Classic racing on Sunday.  With many racers competing on both days it is difficult to determine how many individual skiers took part, but it was the largest Kootenay Cup race held in Kimberley.

The youngest Jackrabbit was three with Struan Roberston, over 80 of Kimberley competing in the master classic race.  There were 40 race categories and a large contingent of volunteers kept things running smoothly.  Post race food was available in the day lodge.

The Kimberley Nordic Club would like to say thanks to all the volunteers including Kimberley Search and Rescue members who stood by in case of any injuries and Teck for sponsoring the race.

Skiers came from, Calgary, Invervmere, Rossland, Nelson, Canmore, Libby MT, Fernie, Revelstoke, Golden, Valhala Hills (North Slocan) and of course Kimberley.
