Mayor, councillors disagree on service review

McRae says due diligence was done on both arenas before vote

Many councillors made a point of referencing their wish they had a service review to consult on their Marysville arena decision. However, Mayor Ron McRae says there was plenty of information available.

“It is important to recognize that a significant amount of work was done on both arenas, in effect that was a service review,” he said. “The fact is that analysis had been done on the Civic Centre and Marysville Arena. Due diligence was done to determine whether there would be a reduction or elimination of arena services. It was clear to me that the public was not in support of reducing arena services.”

McRae says that there is not necessarily a correlation between a service review and a ten-year capital plan.
