Neville Bowman Trio concert

Friday concert at Centre 64 kicks off Jazz Series

The Fall Jazz Series continues at Centre 64 this Friday evening with the Neville Bowman Trio with guest Kinga Hemming in concert.

The concert will be cabaret style, in the dance studio, so guests can enjoy a glass of wine while listening to the show.

“It’s a very intimate setting,” said Keith Nichols from the Kimberley Arts Council. “We found in last year’s jazz series that those concerts were most popular with the audience.”

Nichols says the Neville Bowman Trio should put on a great show.

“Neville is  a renowned pianist, he’s opened at the Vancouver Jazz Festival. He’s bringing a combo and of course, Kinga Hemming has the goods. This will be entertaining, with great arrangements, good old tunes and some originals.”

If you are new to jazz, this concert would be a great introduction, Nichols says.

“We’ve had success with female jazz vocalists in the past,” he said. “My favourite within the jazz genre is female vocal jazz — artists like Ella Fitzgerald, Diana Krall. Jazz with vocalists is more understandable.”

Tickets are available in advance at Centre 64 for $24 or at the door for $26.

The Fall Jazz Series continues November 1, with Melody Diachun with Quartet and on November 28 with Verismo.

Friday’s concert begins at 8 p.m.
