As those who organize First Saturdays in Kimberley found out this past summer, if you offer a bit of music and a bit of action in the Platzl, people will come. So why not pull off an event in winter as well?
On Saturday, February 15, from 6 to 9 p.m., the Sister Shred Team will host a rail jam in the Platzl. The rail jam will be set up on the Deer Park Avenue. And in addition to some crazy stunts on skis and boards, there will be a fashion show in the old Fields store, featuring Kimberley’s fabulous designers and shops.
A local DJ will provide music and the Mark Creek Lions Club will host a warming station.
With the assistance of sponsors such as Invest Kootenays, CBT, The Choice (Cranbrook), and Commit (Fernie), thousands of dollars in prizes are available along with a chance to win the Mayhem Trophy Cup.
The Rail Jam begins at 6 p.m. with registration ($20) at 4 p.m and a practice session at 5 p.m. The Fashion show begins at 7 p.m.
