The Kimberley Dynamiters are on the verge of acquiring forward Lincoln Lane (1996) from the Grand Forks Border Bruins in exchange for future considerations.
According to Dynamiters general manager Dave Smith, the deal has been agreed upon in principle, but must first pass through Hockey Canada before it can be made official.
Prior to the trade, Lane led the Border Bruins in scoring with seven goals and 22 assists in 29 games. Lane’s 29 points represent a career high.
"I like to have a line that plays hard, is physical and tough to play against -- we have the makings of that," said Dynamiters head coach Jerry Bancks. "The rest, I like to call them your top nine. These are players you use offensively and you use them on the power play. That's where I see Lincoln fitting in right away."
Standing 6-foot-1 and weighing in at 200 pounds, Lane will bring some welcome size to a Dynamiters lineup that is peppered with speed and skill.
Leading scorer and captain Jason Richter measures up at 5-foot-8. The pesky Eric Buckley stands 5-foot-9. Newcomer Braden Saretsky and alternate captain Jared Marchi are both 5-foot-11 and weigh less than 190 pounds.
Bancks spoke with Lane Thursday afternoon, confirming the native of Cloverdale, B.C., would report to the Dynamiters.
Lane also skated in one game with the Trail Smoke Eaters of the BCHL earlier this season, registering one goal and one assist.
In 43 games with the Border Bruins during the 2013-14 campaign, Lane marked up 10 goals and 28 points.
Lane will not be available for the Dynamiters when they travel to Spokane to face the Braves Friday night. Bancks expects him to make his Nitros debut Saturday when the Dynamiters host the Golden Rockets at the Kimberley Civic Centre.
