Only a month after winning silver at the Windermere Valley Rockies Tournament, this past weekend (Sunday December 17th) our U11 Kimberley Nitros took on the Cranbrook Bucks for the gold medal here at the Kimberley U11 Rec Home Tournament.

Cranbrook got the first goal in the game, making it a 1-0 lead that didn’t last long, with Campbell van den Driesen getting a goal right afterwards, with an assist by Owen Courtenay, for Kimberley.

The second period brought on a plethora of goals for the Nitros, with two goals by Rylan Kozey, one goal by Oliver Littlechilds, and one goal by Monty Anderson - making the score 5-2 by the end of the second.

Both teams fought hard in the third period, but Kimberley prevailed with a goal from Owen Courtenay, and two more goals by Monty Anderson, with an assist by Ethan Craig, making it a hat trick game for him.

With amazing team work and some great saves by Nitros goalie, Hudson Boyd, Kimberley annihilated for the gold, and won 8-2 in the end.

“We are immensely proud of our U11 Kimberley Nitros hockey team for their outstanding performance and triumphant victory, securing a well-deserved gold medal at their home tournament. The dedication, teamwork, and resilience displayed by these young athletes truly exemplify the spirit of champions. Their hard work on the ice has paid off, and we couldn’t be prouder of their achievement.” - Head Coach Kelly Littlechilds
