The derby girls put on a show for their JulyFest debut on Friday night.

Roller Derby made its debut at the Kimberley Civic Centre on Friday night as part of the JulyFest-ivities and it came right down to the wire as the bout was decided in the final minute when the Meanie Pachinis completed a 174-172 comeback against the Belles of the Balls.

Decked out in red, the Belles of the Balls hit the track and built up a commanding lead, while the Meanie Pachinis, in green, chipped away to end the first half at a score of 89-73.

The Belles of the Balls kept up their dominance for much of the second half, but the Meanie Pachinis were able to close the gap to within a ten-point spread with two minutes to go.

The Meanie Pachinis pulled out all the stops and the team’s jammer deftly moved through the pack in order to make up the remaining points by the time the clocked ticked down to end the bout.
