Local kids had to meet a Canadian soccer icon and a professional MLS player as the Vancouver Whitecaps wrapped up a skills camp at Moir Park this week. Sam Lenarduzzi and Omar Salgado were the celebrity guests at the camp on Wedesday afternoon, answering questions from the kids and signing autographs. Lenarduzzi is the manager of regional community programs for the Whitecaps and a member of the Canadian Soccer Hall of Fame, while Salgado is a forward on the current roster. Check out Friday’s issue of the Daily Townsman for a feature on their appearance in Cranbrook and the state of professional soccer in North America.
