In the midst of a two-game losing streak and battle to a 4-5-1-0 mark over their last 10 games, the Kootenay Ice travel to Lethbridge to face the surging Hurricanes Tuesday night.
The Hurricanes are 7-3-0-0 in their previous 10 games, including a run of three consecutive victories this past week.
"We've got to come out in the first [period] and do it the whole game, the whole 60 minutes," said Kootenay Ice forward Austin Vetterl Sunday evening. "Stick to the game plan. When we do that -- I know it's a broken record, everyone comes out and says stick to the game plan -- but when we do it, we're a successful team. We're a good team. That's what we need to do, especially on the road. We've got to go out and be greasy, be dirty."
The Ice dropped back-to-back games against teams below them in the WHL standings this past weekend, including a 5-1 setback to the Moose Jaw Warriors Friday and a 5-4 overtime loss to the Saskatoon Blades Sunday.
The Hurricanes are fresh and rested, having last suited up in a 5-3 win over the Blades Saturday.
"They've put a few wins together the past couple games," said Ice forward Vince Loschiavo Sunday. "We've just got to come out and work hard. Sometimes we don't have that. If we want to win, we have to come out right away hard for a full 60 [minutes]."
Puck drop between the Ice and Hurricanes is slated for 7 p.m. at the Enmax Centre in Lethbridge.
The Ice then return home to host the Edmonton Oil Kings Friday night at Western Financial Place.
